Seven teaching positions in two appointment groups

DIAT Pune's 23 October faculty advertisement contains five regular posts and two Professors of Practice. Regular vacancies comprise a Quantum Technology Professor and four Assistant Professors across aerospace, electronics and joint departmental appointments. The two practice posts concern aerospace/control and electronics. Applications open on 25 October 2026; at the time of this 24 October review the window has been announced but is not yet open. Select a specific post code and its reservation category.

Regular specialisations and reservation

The Quantum Technology Professor post is UR and focuses on quantum sensing/metrology, optical platforms and precision measurements. The Aerospace Assistant Professor is UR and concerns UAV, aircraft and missile design. Electronics has an EWS VLSI/embedded-systems/hardware-security post. A joint Electronics/Defence Technology post is ST and concerns communications and electronic warfare, while the joint Defence Technology/Aerospace post is SC and concerns advanced UAVs and autonomous systems. Joint appointees have academic responsibilities in both departments.

Regular faculty qualifications

Assistant Professors need the post's relevant PhD, first class at bachelor's or master's level in the specified engineering subjects, and two years of teaching, research or industry experience at the stated level. The Professor route requires the relevant doctorate and the detailed academic/publication/experience conditions, including the prescribed ten-year record; the academic route includes ten publications and research score 120. Alternative outstanding-professional eligibility is described separately. Time spent earning the PhD does not count as teaching/research experience under this notice.

Professor of Practice routes

The aerospace practice post requires the specified aerospace/aeronautical bachelor's or master's and at least fifteen years of relevant professional experience in missile, aircraft or robotic control. The electronics post accepts the listed electronics/electrical-related degree routes and fifteen years of relevant hands-on experience, covering areas such as sonar/radar, communications, VLSI, electronic warfare or hardware security. A doctorate is desirable rather than a universal essential condition for these practice appointments. Evidence of technical leadership, mentoring and professional contributions is relevant.

Pay, preferred ages and tenure

Professor and Assistant Professor carry Academic Levels 14 and 10 respectively, with admissible allowances. The regular probation period is one year. Professor of Practice remuneration is ₹1.5–2 lakh monthly according to assessed expertise, without other allowances; initial engagement may be up to one year and extensions follow assessment and the stated overall maximum. The notice describes preferred ages, not one common hard ceiling: preferably up to 50 for Professor, 40 for Assistant Professor and 65 for Professor of Practice.

Online form, fee and deadlines

Register on the DIAT Samarth recruitment portal from 25 October and complete online submission by 24 November 2026 at 11:55 pm IST. General/OBC/EWS applicants pay ₹1,000 through the specified SBI Collect process; SC/ST/PwBD and women are exempt. Apply separately for each post if seeking more than one. Keep post-code, specialization, reservation and payment details consistent across the online form and enclosures.

Signed hard copy and document conditions

Send the downloaded, signed application with self-attested supporting certificates and payment evidence by Speed/Registered Post to the Registrar, DIAT, Girinagar, Pune 411025. It must reach by 1 December at 5:30 pm IST. Email or hand delivery is not accepted. Government/semi-government/PSU/HEI employees must follow proper-channel or NOC instructions. Category certificates must meet the notice's format and validity requirements, including the stated current-year EWS condition.

Selection and presenting academic evidence

Shortlisting for regular faculty may use academic/research score, while selection is based on interview performance. Shortlisted regular candidates may be asked to attend a domain/research presentation approximately thirty minutes long before interview, with instructions issued separately. Application guidance: organise publications, guided research and design/industry contributions around the advertised specialization, making your contribution explicit. Practice applicants should explain sustained professional expertise rather than rely on a degree title alone. Follow DIAT's Careers announcements for the actual schedule and amendments.
