Read a job notification before you apply

A practical checklist for eligibility, deadlines, fees and the official application route.

Start with the original source

A short job post helps you discover an opportunity. The employer’s careers page or recruiting authority’s notification is where you confirm it. Match the role title, notice or requisition number, location and application dates. Save a copy of the notification for your own reference; a screenshot of a social post is not a substitute.

Check every eligibility condition

Look for the exact qualification, accepted disciplines, graduation years, experience and any age cutoff date. “Freshers” does not automatically mean every graduate is eligible. If a notice lists an essential requirement separately from a preferred skill, treat them differently. An internship or apprenticeship may have different conditions from a permanent job.

  • Check whether your result must be declared by a specific date.
  • Confirm whether experience must be full-time, post-qualification or in a particular field.
  • Read the official relaxation rules if they apply to your situation.

Write down the dates that matter

An opening date, application deadline, fee-payment deadline, correction window and examination date are different milestones. Record the time zone and cutoff time when stated. “As soon as possible” is not an official deadline. Submit early enough to address an upload failure or payment issue.

Follow the actual application route

Open the official employer or authority link and confirm the role is still accepting applications. Some employers use a separate applicant-tracking provider; verify that the employer’s own careers page leads there. Read the fee instructions in the official notice. An unexpected personal payment request, guaranteed selection or a request for an OTP deserves additional verification.

Keep your own application record

Retain the submitted form, acknowledgment number and payment receipt where applicable. Track the application URL, submission date, documents used and follow-up dates. Save sensitive identity documents in your own secure storage. A job discovery website does not need your passwords, OTPs or identity documents to show an application link.
