Research project and vacancy
IISER Tirupati has advertised one Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate-I position under STARS project 30523158. The chemistry project investigates how molecular structure and supramolecular assembly influence chiral light emission, with the longer-term aim of circularly polarised organic light-emitting devices. Dr. Jatishkumar is the principal investigator. This is a temporary research appointment at the institute, not admission directly into a degree programme or a regular government-service recruitment.
Who can apply
An M.Sc. in Chemistry or an equivalent degree is essential. The qualification must be from a recognized institution and completed by the application closing date. Candidates awaiting their final examination results are specifically ineligible. There is no published minimum number of years of work experience in this notice, so an otherwise eligible recent postgraduate should distinguish that from the desirable experimental background instead of treating prior employment as mandatory.
Research experience that is preferred
Experience with organic synthesis, nanoparticle synthesis and self-assembly is desirable. These areas connect directly to the project's investigation of functional molecules and supramolecular structures. Application guidance: identify the synthesis or assembly methods you actually used, how you evaluated the resulting material, and what part of a thesis or project you completed independently. Evidence of relevant experimental work is more useful here than a broad list of unrelated chemistry software or techniques.
Fellowship and short appointment
The notice specifies two monthly fellowship bands. Candidates meeting its valid CSIR/UGC-JRF, NET, GATE or qualifying central-government national-test condition receive ₹31,000 plus 8% HRA. Others receive ₹25,000 plus 8% HRA. The initial offer is four months and ends with the project. The institute does not promise permanent absorption. Selected candidates are expected to join immediately after an offer, making current availability relevant to the decision to apply.
Age and important dates
The stated age ceiling is 30 years on the closing date. Email applications must arrive by 5 pm IST on 28 October 2026. An online interview through Google Meet is tentatively planned for 3 November; that is not an extension of the application deadline. Shortlisted candidates will receive email communication, so the application should contain an active email address and mobile number that can be monitored after submission.
How to send the application
Download and complete the prescribed application format attached to the official advertisement, convert it to PDF and email it to [email protected]. Identify both Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate-I and project code 30523158 in the subject line. Sending a CV alone is expressly insufficient. Check that the final attachment is readable, that the form is complete and that any research experience claimed can be supported by records.
Shortlisting and document verification
The project team may use qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum to limit interview numbers. Meeting the essential degree condition therefore does not guarantee an interview. Photographs and copies supporting age, qualifications and experience will be collected at the appropriate stage. No interview travel or daily allowance is payable. The applicant remains responsible for the authenticity of the information, and an eligibility problem can lead to cancellation even after selection.
PhD option and decision points
Selected project staff may apply separately for IISER Tirupati's regular PhD programme if they satisfy its admission requirements. The research job itself does not guarantee PhD admission. Before applying, compare the four-month initial tenure, the fellowship band applicable to your test status, the need for prompt joining and the alignment of your synthesis experience with chiral-emission research. Follow updates from the institute and the project email rather than relying on an assumed interview invitation.
