Responsibilities and work described

• Construction Manager – Building & Infrastructure (B&I)
• Leadership: day-to-day construction management and coordinate the SGS site supervision team on assigned B&I consultancy projects
• Monitoring: quality, progress, HSE and discipline interfaces, and provide clear recommendations to the client and PM
• Support: delivery against approved designs, contract requirements and agreed milestones within SGS’s scope and delegated authority
• Contractors remain responsible for construction execution, methods and workforce management
• Plan site mobilization and organize the SGS supervision team
• Define discipline responsibilities, inspection coverage, reporting lines and priorities with the PM
• Review: contractor programmes, look-ahead plans, resources and construction sequencing
• Monitoring: actual progress and recommend recovery actions for delays
• Coordination: CSA, MEP and specialist interfaces, access and work fronts
• Tracking: design queries and ensure unresolved clashes are escalated before affected work proceeds
• Coordination: review of shop drawings, materials, method statements and inspection/test plans by qualified engineers; track comments and approvals before execution
• Oversee inspections, testing and quality records against approved requirements
• Tracking: nonconformities, defective work and corrective actions through verified closure
• Coordination: with the HSE team to monitor contractor compliance and high-risk activities
• Escalate unsafe conditions and initiate suspension within delegated authority

Essential requirements and candidate background

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or a related engineering discipline
• At least 8 years of construction experience, including 3 years leading site teams as Construction Manager, Site Manager or equivalent
• Relevant professional credentials for the assigned duties and project requirements
• PMP or equivalent project management training is an advantage
• Working English for client meetings, technical correspondence and reports
• Chinese is an advantage for relevant projects
• Knowledge: drawings, specifications, quality control, construction sequencing and contract administration; proficient in MS Office and scheduling tools
• Site leadership and problem-solving skills; available for full-time site assignments and project travel in Vietnam

Preferred experience and additional strengths

• Experience: industrial/factory or building projects; consultancy supervision and coordination of CSA and MEP works preferred
